Preschool and children meet for Sunday School at 9:15 a. m. in Building 1. During the 10:30 a. m. worship service, we have a kids service lead by our children’s ministry team. On Wednesday, the children meet at 7:00 p. m. During the school year we have Awana, a program for kids. In the summer we have a special program that is geared more toward getting the kids moving. ACTIVITIES FOR TEENS? The Open Door Church Youth Ministry exists to provide a safe, fun place where teenagers from 6th -12th grade can gather twice a week to study God’s Word and strive to become more like Him. Our focus is fellowship, growth, service and worship. Teens meet every Sunday Morning for Sunday School at 9:15 a. m. and each Wednesday Evening at 7:00 p. m. Monthly activities are planned to allow our youth and their friends to gather for the purpose of Fellowship and Service. WHAT IS THE OPEN DOOR CHURCH'S "STYLE" OF MUSIC? In terms of music, we don't have a "style" that we stick with, we sing contemporary praise songs, choruses, and hymns. Even young Christians are being affected: Half said they perceived their own faith to be judgmental. Yet, the Bible does teach us to judge others. Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits. ” The ability to make judgments about people and circumstances are essential to safety and protection. God never instructs us to not make judgments, but rather he gives us guidelines on how to make judgments. In Matthew Chapter 7 Jesus lays out for us three guidelines for judgments. GUIDELINE # 1: BE CAUTIOUS Jesus teaches us not to rush into judgment of people and circumstances. The reason we should be cautious about our judgments is because we shall all be judged one day. They packed the Cod in water so that the Cod would be alive upon arrival and therefore maintain a fresh taste. One problem - The Cod died en route. The customers were not happy. One of the executives of the company discovered that the feared enemy of the Cod is the Catfish. They altered their plan and included a single Catfish in each water filled package of Cod. The Cod fish swam for their lives the entire journey on the way to their intended destinations. They arrived alive and healthy. Adversity is very similar. Sometimes God uses adversity in our life to keep us alert and alive for His purpose. Although we don’t like the trial and often feel overwhelmed by it, God maybe using a difficult circumstance in our life to shape us into the likeness of His Son Jesus Christ. This is our responsibility. We cannot neglect this calling, personally or collectively as a church. In order for the church to be effective in evangelizing the community and the world there are four keys that must be true in the church. First, the Church must remain pure. In the book of Acts chapter 5 the apostle Peter confronts the sinful deceit of Ananias and Sapphire. The result was a sweeping Godly fear within the church and without. Yet, this purity only validated the life changing message of the gospel. Whether it is personally or corporately there our three ingredients that help us remain pure, accountability, scripture, and prayer. Second, the church must be an instrument of God’s Power. We learn from the Book of Acts that the secret to the church’s effectiveness is having God’s power upon them. How Can I Be An Instrument Of His Power? Be faithful.
